About: Petrichor Projects collaborated with Oil on Linen, the newly opened restaurant at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, to craft a holistic concept encompassing design, art programming, ongoing experiential food events. The partnership aims to continuously merge the culinary and artistic worlds, offering visitors immersive, sensory experiences.
The menu at Oil on Linen reflects Chef Ted Habiger's creative exploration of each dish’s visual and cultural origins. Designed to evolve with the museum's exhibition schedule, the menu forms a dynamic dialogue between the flavors on the plate and the art on the walls, emphasizing meaningful connections to the exhibitions.
Located within the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Oil on Linen was curated by Petrichor Projects as a space where food and art intertwine. The restaurant features pieces from the esteemed collection of Kansas City collectors Bill and Christy Gautreaux, with works by renowned artists such as Sanford Biggers, Ronald Jackson, Annie Lapin, and Joiri Minaya. Adding another layer to the experience, Kansas City-based artist Kevin Townsend contributed set in place (mis en place), a durational drawing unfolding over 200 hours, allowing diners to witness the creation of art in real-time.
